I learned a lot moving away from consulting into a full-time management role. I am happy with the direction the technology team and platform is moving, given where it was when I started. You can read more about what <a href=\"https:\/\/n26.com\/en-de\/blog\/n26-in-2018\">we achieved in 2018<\/a>, and I&#8217;m proud to have been a significant part of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I expected to travel less as a consultant. Yet that didn&#8217;t seem to really work out. <strong>Places I visited<\/strong> for both work and leisure included: Barcelona, Munich London, Brussels, Austin, Capetown, Budapest, Vienna, Heiligendamm, Sitges, Zurich, Siegen, New York, Krakow, Oslo, Cadzand, Malmo and Amsterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I <strong>still spoke<\/strong> at many conferences and meet ups including: <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/channels\/1344849\">NDC London<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oop-konferenz.de\/oop2018.html\">OOP Conference<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oop-konferenz.de\/oop2018.html\">Microservices Munich Meetup<\/a>, keynoted the inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/austin2018.theleaddeveloper.com\/\">LeadDev Austin<\/a>, Landing Festival (Berlin), <a href=\"https:\/\/craft-conf.com\/2018\">Craft Conference<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearedevelopers.com\/\">We Are Developers<\/a>, CTO Roundtable Berlin meetup, <a href=\"https:\/\/frontendconf.ch\/\">FrontEnd conference<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/jdd.org.pl\/\">JDD Conf<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gotober.com\/\">GoTo Berlin<\/a>, the inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/The-Lead-Developer-Meetup-Berlin\/\">LeadDev Berlin meetup<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oredev.org\/2018\/line-up\">\u00c3\u02dcredev<\/a> and a number of evening meetups for my company across Berlin, New York and Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was still able to post a <a href=\"https:\/\/thekua.com\/atwork\">number of blog entries<\/a> across the year. I also focused on sharing a lot of research material on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/patkua\">twitter<\/a>. It seems to be <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mikemiles86\/status\/982324503387824128\">very well received<\/a> or appreciated so far. I also was able to get back into a lot of reading. I&#8217;m a big fan of <a href=\"https:\/\/getpocket.com\/\">Pocket<\/a>, perfect for reading when I&#8217;m flying or traveling. According to them, I was in the <a href=\"https:\/\/getpocket.com\/stats\/2018\/6937b8cd2c\">top 1% of readers, getting through the equivalent of about 49 books<\/a>. I also got into the habit of reading whilst commuting with my Kindle.
