A Non Alcoholic Mojito

I found this weekend just gone that you can find some bargains at the Borough Markets despite what prices you will for some items. One of those bargains was a huge bunch of mint almost greater than my hand for only a £1. What to do with so much of the stuff… A Mojito mix jumped to mind.

The drink is so simple, and only required a few more ingredients. Even without the alcohol, Mojitos still taste very refreshing and summery, something that at least Saturday sort of turned out to be.

Mojito

Read on to find out how I made it.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of light brown sugar
  • 1 lime sliced into very small bits
  • A huge bunch of mint
  • A litre of sparkling water

Mojitos are so simple to make, all I did was really put the first three ingredients into a jug and then used a wooden spoon to “muddle” them to bring out the stronger flavours in the skin of the limes and the mint. I then added the rest of the water and some ice to keep it cool. So simple though I think next time I’d reduce the amount of sugar I added as it did turn out a little sweeter than expected.

  1. very good suggestion! I was thinking only recently if you can have alcohol-free mojitos, since they are so refreshing…(plus I am off the grog for a while)
