{"id":1333,"date":"2008-06-30T12:46:03","date_gmt":"2008-06-30T18:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thekua.com\/rant\/2008\/06\/30\/festival-movie-heavy-metal-in-baghdad\/"},"modified":"2008-06-30T12:46:03","modified_gmt":"2008-06-30T18:46:03","slug":"festival-movie-heavy-metal-in-baghdad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thekua.com\/rant\/2008\/06\/festival-movie-heavy-metal-in-baghdad\/","title":{"rendered":"Festival Movie: Heavy Metal in Baghdad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t normally go out to cinemas to see mainstream movies, and when someone asked me along to see, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heavymetalinbaghdad.com\/\">Heavy Metal In Baghdad<\/a> as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sledisland.com\/\">Sled Island Festival<\/a>, it sounded pretty interesting. <\/p>\n<p>The synopsis is pretty simple: What&#8217;s it like as a heavy metal band trying to get by in Baghdad?<\/p>\n<p>This movie follows this band over a series of years, and combines two worlds we don&#8217;t normally associate being together &#8211; that of teenagers wanting some outlet to have fun, and the war time stories we typically hear on the news. Bringing them together provides some real insight and a very moving portrayal of a world we rarely think about.
