So that’s where my table and chair went …
A day in the park, and out, and in, and out ….
This is just an entry to gripe about the weather as the weather really tested our patience today. It started off pretty typically for London with not a patch of blue in the sky to see for miles. Then the clouds cleared and the sun teased us with its presence. So, we decided to go in and spend some time laying in the park. Not 5 minutes after stepping in to the park the clouds suddenly reappeared again casting us into deep cool shadows. The clouds again stretched for miles so we left to go and pursue other business. Then the sund came out and teased us again. It was too nice a day not to try and get into the park so we did and what happened, 15 minutes later we were out of there again. And this went on. Finally, at about 6pm (!) the sun broke through for a decent stay but I wouldn’t say it stayed around for much longer than 45 minutes.
Pics to come (in a couple of weeks hopefully.)
Thanks
Thank you to all of those who thought of me during yesterday’s horrific bomb blasts about London.
Today really is a new day and I am very impressed with the way London has got back to its business. My thoughts are with those who lost their lives in yesterday’s tragedy – I’m just very glad that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
Oh dear …
I arrived at work at my usual time (early) and I was shocked to turn on the radio to hear about the explosions etc. that had occurred in Central London. Scarily enough one of the worst explosions occurred at Edgeware Road – only stops away from me and until recently a stop that I had been travelling through to get to work.
I am safe for the meantime but definitely in shock to hear that something that started off as supposed explosions on the tube from power surges (suspicious in themselves considering it happened on more than one tube line and at several points in the tube network) has now been escalated to seven confirmed actual bomb explosions (including one bus that was totally ripped apart). It is clear this is a co-ordinated attack on London.
Sitting here in absolutey disbelief …
Could this be summer …
Well, summer is upon us at last. However, I’m told that this will last only a week and the next time we can expect to see summer is August. They sure have strange weather over here. Anyway, today was an amazingly warm day (I think tops of 29) and they are saying tomorrow is going to be even warmer. I can’t even begin to imagine what it will be like as today was almost unbearable (I think I took at least three showers today!) Its funny but everyone complains when its winter and then when summer is here everyone complains that it’s too hot. I think it doesn’t help that there is no air-conditioning anywhere so you can’t even try and get relief. If I could combine the long days of summer with a sunny winter’s day I would be happy.
Sista Kua Gallery Online
For those who are interested, I’ve recently added a gallery of Photo Albums that will continue to grow. See the sidebar or http://www.thekua.com/sista/gallery. Just note that I tend to get carried away with my photos …
Snow!
I don’t know what it is about snow that is so exciting to me. Even though I know that when, or if, it does fall in London its going to mean a massive transport disaster (at least I have the option of walking to work) I can’t help but wish for it to arrive. In the last few days it has gotten cold enough for it to sleet (frozen rain drops) and today even a few snow flakes came to earth (though nothing substantial.) As I looked out the window at the snow falling I couldn’t help but giggle (I’m hoping the client didn’t hear me or they might think I’m slightly cuckoo.)
Average temperatures look like they are coming down at the end of the week so here’s hoping I get some snow before I leave for the warmth! (Just don’t let it affect my flights … please.)
Walking at night
Its funny what you see walking home at quarter to eleven at night. I was walking back through the High Street Kensington area on my way home from Dralion and within the space of 50 metres I walked by three sets people walking their dogs. I’m not sure what possesses these people to go walking at this time of night but it definitely brings a smile to my face. My favourite of the night was this girl with her two black Otis’ (pugs). One was fully grown and the other a just a puppy and both playfully tried to swarm me. Rascals! But so cute!
Model Men
With time on their hand Uncle Bobby and Akh thought it was a great idea to enter the O2 Mobile Model Search 2005 competition. Unfortunately voting lines for today’s shortlist have now shut but you can still check out their mugs on the O2 website.
