Guess how much?

My brother’s roommate has this giant vodka bottle filled with coins. Whenever I see that many coins I can’t help but itch to try and count it. So, what are your guess for how much is in this bottle? It was so big I had to roll it rather thank pick it up to get it into the lounge:

It took me hours to get it all organised and about four counts to get the value right. It only took Pat moments to destroy my community of coins!

Brunch at Spitafields Market and then a bit of Basketball

I never know with my Sundays whether to fill it completely so that I will forget that Monday is just around the corner or whether to take the slow and easy approach. Today I thought I would kind of go in between starting with brunch with Rita at Spitafields Market. Yes we did end up at a chain restaurant – Giraffe – but I simply can’t resist their English Breakfast. Mmmm … soo very good. I think it’s the potato wedges which have me.

After brunch we took a slow stroll through the market with Rita buying some incredibly cute baby clothes and then we wandered into some sort of posh tea store where I saw these:

Yes – that’s right £17 for a paper cup holder. Yes a true bargain. They are hand-made and everything!

And then a sight that fills me with pleasure – a before and after shot of the roasting pig carcass!

To work off our brunch (though to be honest we’d walked quite a bit around the markets) we headed to Rita’s for a game of tennis and then when we didn’t burn enough energy doing that I decided to see if I could borrow one of the boy’s basketballs, since they weren’t using it, so that we could throw some hoops. I wasn’t even planning on doing any sort of running – my kind of basketball these days consists of playing those arcade games where you sink hoop after hoop of balls! – however the boys had other plans and challenged us to a game of pick-up instead! I was actually flattered they thought we could actually give them a work out of sorts. But we did!

Turns out one of the boys was only just learning to play. I can report, no boast, that we kicked butt! Personally I think they were just a bit too polite to hussle us physically but we had no problems trying to intimidate them ourselves and that meant steal after steal and free rides to the basket. It was quite a work out!

Tennis and Urban Adventure – Part II

After two nights out dancing plus a day of baking I thought there was nothing better to cure the excesses than some exercise so I caught up with Rita for a game of tennis and then play-time at her local urban adventure.

Last time we tried that swinging thing but just for a little bit as I was late to meet my brother and his friends Mike and Vanessa for lunch. This time we had the afternoon for leisure so we tried out a few of the other pieces of equipment. The first piece of equipment was a bit baffling – kind of like a rope climb but up a pole and using this black rubber hand grip and steel steps. It was damn difficult to haul my fat butt up the pole though (and damn scary too!) though one the kids hanging around didn’t seem to have a problem!

Then we moved on to the giant spider-web which was a heap of fun even though I somehow gave myself rope burn on my upper leg.

Exercise for a change!

So, I went over to Rita’s hood, Mile End, for a game of tennis this afternoon. She’s actually got quite a cool sports facility right across the road from her with swimming pool, an olympic track (including facility for hammer throwing!), tennis courts, a basketball court and soccer fields. In addiiton there is this kind of urban adventure park thing where it looks like a playground but is actually more of an exercise venue. But fun exercise equipment like a giant web etc. We didn’t have time to go on much as I had to run off to meet my bro and his friends for lunch but we did go on to this piece of equipment. Well difficult!

Will try and go on more things next time I’m in the hood.
