Troy, seen at the Prince Charles Cinema, was hugely disappointing. With big name draw cards such as Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom (yum!), and Eric Bana I was expecting more than what we got on screen – which was an awful script with badly written lines, a plot that made you dislike everyone (except Eric Bana’s character), and awful cheesy acting (which in all likelihood was the result of the awful script).
Sure, all the guys were nice and buff but there is only so much mileage you can get out of that. The most memorable moment was the fight scene between Brad Pitt’s Achilles and Eric Bana’s Prince Hector but then Brad had to go and drag Eric’s lifeless body back to camp. I understand that we were supposed to see just how angry Achilles was but I think that it was just a horrible moment and instead of giving Prince Hector’s death the respect it deserved I felt disgust at Achilles’ actions instead. And could Orlando Bloom’s character be any wimpier? First backing down from death without honour and then killing Achilles with an arrow. Sheesh – give me a break!
