How confusing. Syriana will definitely need all your attention and more. And even if you do give it 100% concentration there is no guarantee you’ll understand what is going on. Syriana is basically a whole lot of little stories with a whole lot of characters and somehow all the little stories relate to each other.

First you start with CIA agent George Clooney who loses a rocket launcher in a covert operation, then you have a law firm engaged to help one major oil company, Connex, to receive approval for merger with another, Killean, where there are allegations of illegal dealings, then you have the hunky Matt Damon who deals in energy stocks helping the Prince of some small Middle Eastern principality and finally you have the terrorist plot – a young man gets caught up in the tellings of a terrorist group to the point of being willing to become one of their sacrficies.

This is another of those movies highlighting the corruption of the rich and powerful. All a bit depressing really. And although the movie is intense and exciting throughout I thought it really was all a bit confusing and I spent most of my time trying to work out what the heck was going on. There are also a couple of grosser moments which certainly had me turning away from the screen. You’ll know it when you see (or don’t see) it. 🙂

Overall a very involving me but one movie that had me knowing less when I walked out than when I walked in.
