Being given free Haagen Dazs was a good start to my fifth and final London Film Festival movie: Criminal. Produced by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh and based on the movie Nine Queens (which I haven’t seen) Criminal is the story of two con artists who meet by chance – one old and cynical and the other young and optimistic – who try to con a businessman into buying a forged rare piece of American currency. It seems to remain faithful to Nine Queens (from what I have read) and is very slickly told. It becomes a web of cons that leaves the viewer wondering exactly who is conning whom.
The movie was well told with very appealing and well-acted characters and a nice twist at the conclusion. It was a great movie to round off my Festival experience with. This movie comes well recommended.
