Absolutely loved Die Hard!
Bruce Willis is charming and engaging as ever as Detective John McClane (one tough cool dude!) He is the only one that can save America once all technological infrastructure collapses and causes a major melt down. He is after all, as villain Timothy Olyphant refers to him, an analog crime fighter in a digital world and as we all know sometimes its good to go back to the basics.
Though Bruce Willis was undoubtedly the star of the movie a few mentions have to go to the rest of the cast – to Justin Long as the cute side kick, to Timothy Olyphant for delivering a hilariously sarcy villain, to Maggie Q as his literally kick-@ss girlfriend (she just wouldn’t die) and to Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Bruce Willis’ very feisty like-father-like-daughter. All great characters.
What made this movie for me is probably all that it will be criticised for – impossible, crazy and over the top action (check the jet fighter scene), the ludicrous though very basic story line, and plot inconsistencies. The reason? Because it was just so much darn fun to watch. Scene after scene of mad action shots (who would have thought a car could take down a helicopter) paired with some absolute cracker lines – what’s not to love!
Yippie kay yay.
They certainly don’t action heroes like Bruce Willis anymore. Another classic!
