Bodean’s – London’s Original BBQ Smoke House

Bodean’s (at Soho) has two areas for eating – a traditional US-style diner upstairs with high swivel seats and a proper (and very cozy) restaurant downstairs. Rehana and I started off with a drink upstairs before heading downstairs to get to the business end of the evening. Whoever said this was a carnivore’s paradise most definitely knew what they were talking about. Expect to get your fingers dirty with a menu offering such items as Smoked Fire Seared Chicken Wings, finger-licking good BBQ Ribs (Pork or Beef) and Pulled Pork.

I think I went a bit overboard as I went for: Chicken Wing starters, 1/4 Chicken, Spare Ribs & Pulled Pork Combo for Mains, and Key Lime Pie for dessert. The meat was amazingly tasty and oh so tender and their BBQ sauce was extremely moreish. I wasn’t overly stuffed at the end of the meal as we were allowed plenty of time between dishes but I probably could have done without the 1/4 chicken, and although the Key Lime Pie was yummy, for 3.50 pounds and for the size of the slice I got I thought it was slightly overpriced.

Overall, a fun atmosphere, great food, friendly service and a great choice for anyone looking to satisfy their craving for American BBQ done the right way.
